Hanoi gets on track. April 2020, the first time of the Formula 1 in Viet Nam with its first Grand Prix. The announcement of the Vietnamese authorities, now, is the official agreement to run in Southeast Asia, the fourth race in the continent, destined to enter the journey that will lead the Circus to Shanghai. Calendar perspectives still distant but sufficiently predictable, given the slot identified in April.
It will run on a semipermanent circuit, a citizen developed taking cues from other circuits of the world. Twenty-two curves, 5,565 meters overall, a 1,500-metre straight inserted between two narrow hairlines. They are some of the features of the track that will pass near My Dinh National Stadium.
It’s the first new entry in the Liberty Media calendar and burns the Miami project on time.:
Since we arrived in 2017 we have discussed the development of new goals to broaden the appeal of Formula 1 and the Vietnam Grand Prix is the realization of that ambition.
We are thrilled to be here in Hanoi, one of the most electrizing cities in the world, with a great history and an incredible future ahead. It’s the perfect formula for a grand prix and I can’t wait to become a real crucial moment in the calendar
The process that led to the definition of the circuit has started from the identification of the area in which to realize the track the elaboration of data on computer simulations, all carried out by the Hanoi Feasibility Group. The collaboration of the F1 Motorsport team of FOM has evaluated the solutions indicated and produced simulations of the type of race that would have ensured the tracing:
Working in collaboration with the city of Hanoi and promoter Vingroup, our Motorsport team is committed to not only testing riders but also ensuring the fans are entertaining and spectacular races
For a very early part that is inspired by the Nurburgring, Curve 1 and 2, hairline and long distance to the right, the two successive straights (800 meters and 1,500 meters) offer chances of overtaking relatively easy. The concluding sector, in the intentions of the promoters, is a resuming part of the ascent of Massenet, in Monaco, part of the Becketts and of the Suzuka ones. Mix supported by the data of the simulations conducted by Liberty Media.
